My name is Cliff Cameron. I have coached basketball for 40 plus years. I spent 22 years at Pleasant Plains and did coach one season at JHS 2016-2017. My son Michael is in his first year as varsity coach at JHS. Michael has played since the age of 3. He played for me at PPHS and enjoyed a lot of team and individual success. After high school, he received a scholarship to play at LLCC, where he was starting point guard for 2 years. Michael then played & started at MacMurray College where he broke school & conference assist records. He also spent 1 year as an assistant coach at UIS, spent 1 year coaching youth basketball in China, and was a grad assistant for men's basketball at Carroll University the past 2 years. Being a coach's son & having success & experience as a player and coach doesn't mean you will be a successful coach. But Michael, has a love and desire to coach basketball & help make a difference in young men's lives. It seems that you, along with a couple of moms of players have been involved in some drama and criticizing my son and his abilities to do his job. He is in his 1st year at JHS and I have confidence that he and the teams at JHS will continue to improve. There is no doubt he has the knowledge & experience to succeed as he continues to learn. We know there are a couple of moms you have been messaging back & forth who want & think their sons should be playing & others should not be? It is normal for parents to want their sons to play more. They have one main interest (the son they love). The coach who sees the players every day in practice has to put players on the court who he can trust, work together, and give the team the best chance of winning. The coach wants to win as bad as anybody while also wanting to make every team member feel valuable and important. I'll admit sometimes it is difficult and sometimes mistakes are made.
I have been to almost every practice and I help give advice on evaluating players abilities and how they can contribute to the team. We try to give everyone a chance to prove themselves. I have been around the game a lot and I can assure you if there is a player on the bench that would make a big difference he would be playing.
Have you been to a game or practice at JHS? I am just surprised you would use your platform to team up with moms that cause drama and stir the pot to spread negative information about a young coaches career & passion. I'm very interested in learning more about you and your website.
I am a JHS 76 grad, 15 of us Dennis bothers & sisters went to JHS. I DID not team up with Moms, I am a man that fully supports the IL kids, I created let them play *& mask optional, You seen where that went , I Have been thanked by Legislators in IL for the work I did fighting for the kids all for FREE Jut like I run this page for free. .I do have over 18,000 members & followers here https://www.facebook.com/groups/ihsscentra1https://twitter.com/ihsscentral
